Today An Obsessional Group Rant About “No Evidence” By A Stacked Panel At Seattle University?!

Posted by Peter Quennell

Seattle University is a small Jesuit college just this side of Seattle’s downtown.

Today at 4:00 pm in the Pigott Auditorium, in what seems to us a seriously dopey and un-academic exercise, some of the most obsessed of the conspiracy theorists will assemble to peddle their illusions.

Two of the panelists, Paul Ciolino and Steve Moore, have been exhaustively debunked on TJMK in the past, and sooner or later we will probably turn our attention to debunking the other two: Mark Waterbury, and Candace Dempsey.

Our posts on the hotheaded faux detective Paul Ciolino are here, here, and here, and our posts on the hotheaded faux FBI murder investigator Steve Moore are here, here, here, and here.

The other two panelists, Mark Waterbury and Candace Dempsey, have authored slow-selling books which studiously ignore 95 percent of the evidence and mis-state the other 5 percent. Tom Wright of the Friends of Amanda Knox group will be presiding.

Would you like to attend, well-equipped with some questions? Ask these questions and these questions and these questions. Around 400 in all. Any reports would be appreciated.

Below: Seattle University President Father Steve Sundborg. Does he know what his film department is getting up to?

Comments

Thanks for this opportune post which will serve as a timely reminder to readers of the ‘credentials’ and characters of the participants who have repeatedly demonstrated their ill-informed and inaccurate views. Dempsey’s last blog (‘New Revelations: no evidence against Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, Seattle PI) demonstrate once again her partial, slanted and downright misleading proclamations about the whole body of evidence against the two.

Peddle their illusions, you said it. I smell a reprise of “Disorder in the Court” as in 3 stooges meet Hulk Hogan and the Repo Guys. What a carnival of nonsense at Pigott. I guess Father Sundborg is working on the virtue of patience. Bring your own Febreze.

Maybe the 80-year-old lost tortoise will show up.

Why do these people continualy LIE about there not being any evidence? it it out of malice or is it because they are completely ignorant of the facts? Do they honestly believe their actions will have ANY influence? Sorry if I sound snarky, but I wish these fools would just do a little research and stop making Americans look bad to Europe.

What Macbeth said could be applied to the FOA spokespersons:

It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

Let’s not forget, the “Flat Earth Society” has existed long before them.

The forever-biased Steve Shay has a report on the event and even he seems unable to put lipstick on a pig. The theater was less than 10 percent full and the same tired old arguments advanced.  Here is Paul Ciolino playing Italian detective:

“This is a big story because there is no evidence. She has been sitting in jail about 1,000 nights. She’s in jail for being American, being pretty, and stretching and not looking right.”

No evidence! What did we predict. If any reader attended it’d be good to hear from them.

I had to laugh at Skeptical Bystander’s take earlier on what would be said over on PMF:

****************

I think I can give a pretty accurate report of what will be said without even going. The script is pretty tight and was written ages ago.

Candace has decided to go with the “I am fluent in Italian” claim today, though she could change her mind at the last minute, especially if some poor Italian exchange student wanders in there and decides to ask a question in Italian. She’ll have to say, “I’m fluent, but not today”.

As for Mark Waterbury, I hear he is going to hypnotize the audience into a deep sleep. Just by talking. It is a fantastic technique developed by the Wretchedly Boring One.

Umm, let’s see, who else? Paul Ciolino: Amanda dint no Rudy. Raffel or whatever his name is dint no Rudy. Them two kids was railroaded.

Steve Moore: Hi! You may have heard of me. I am Michelle Celestial Moore’s husband and I have no idea why I’m here. Ask Michelle. She’s the talker in our family. I’m the former sniper.

Have I forgotten anyone?

The Never Knowingly-Impartial Steve Shay strikes again! “About 120 people” in the audience. Priceless stuff. And among these “about 120 people” were “Amanda’s father, Curt, her step-mother Cassandra, her aunt and uncle, Janet and Mick Huff, and her grandmother, Liz Huff”..

..and Steve Shay, of course.

...and goodness knows who else from that utterly odious clique of Knox family and friends.

Excluding Knox/Huff/Mellas family, Knox friends and students who wanted to miss a boring geography lecture, or something, I wouldn’t be surprised if the audience failed to reach double figures.

Peter,

Thanks for the link to Steve Shay’s report. Ever biased even to the extent that he is blind to the absurdity of the participant’s comments which he quotes. How I laughed. It truly is a Wonderland.

This from Steve Moore ....“In murder investigations you have to add evidence and remove suspects.(Fair enough if one is talking about an elimination process). In this case they added suspects and removed evidence.”  ?????

And from Paul Ciolino ...” I had my ass kicked by italians all my life. I don’t have a problem with itailians. I love italians.” Just to be clear that he’s not biased in any way. Just a masochist. Tough guy.

What a ragtag assembly of muppetheads!

Janus, you seem spot-on on who was in the crowd. Seemingly no national reporters. So far Komo News has the only other report.

James, this reminded you of jabberwocky Yeah, that funny poem does read a little like Paul Ciolino.

Thundering, there was a slideshow running behind the speakers throughout (Steve Shay’s piece is headed Slideshow) and that looks to me like the front and side of an arrested perp. Guess who.

What’s really laughable and sad as well, and having read the subsequent comments from the panel discussion. Is the total amount of negative comment in the blogs. So much so in fact that Steve Shay has cut off discussion until the ‘Video becomes available.’ In fact the only comment Shay was able to come up with was ““LOL”” Sad eh!

“Why do these people continualy LIE about there not being any evidence? it it out of malice or is it because they are completely ignorant of the facts?”

IMO All of the above.

They don’t even know or care what Evidence is.

[Evidence is something that tends to prove or disprove the existence of, i.e. makes more likely, or less likely, an alleged fact.]

Stop the vid above at around 1hr50:22. That gives you a flavour of the support that Knox has in Seattle. Basically, nothing.

AND it was a free show!

Is it just me but is Steve Moore drunk ? He´s clearly sipping a can of beer.

Posted by aethelred23 on 04/05/11 at 09:49 PM | #

Drunk? Possibly! It would explain why he repeats the PRECISE-SAME libels for global viewing that already have Amanda and both her parents facing charges for calunnia back in Perugia. (Not that being drunk is any defense.)

Several of the others on that panel in our lawyers’ view committed probable calunnia, and if the prosecutors and others slimed back in Perugia are smart, they will grab a copy of that incredibly misjudged video (we already have one) and start into the summons paperwork!

Forum or Fiasco?

Steve Moore uses Michelangelo as example of removing all that is “not David” to discover a statue within unhewn rock.

Moore strikes again. Strikes out. Michelangelo failed to follow his own advice, he forgot to cut away the foreskin of a devout Hebrew, who would have been circumcised. The statue of David fails in that regard. With Michelangelo as a guide, Moore will fail. Maybe Steve should go back to the frog jokes, the zebra-horse comparison and the bikini metaphors.

I do appreciate him being tactful in describing some of the injuries made to Meredith which showed his kindness or good breeding.

Overall, I might give you twenty cents for the erudition of the entire panel, not a nickel for their common sense.

Paul Ciolino thought nothing of propping up a book to read while other speakers were presenting. That seemed disrespectful to fellow forum members. Tom Wright was rude to the first speaker paying him no attention. He shifted in his chair while wiping his face, flipping his notes, drinking bottled water, touching his head, moving his legs and generally calling attention to himself and his boredom from the minute the fellow began to talk, all during the guy’s opening words to welcome the panel. I thought Wright himself had organized this event. He certainly got a backhanded compliment of thanks but no thanks from the ever circumspect Judge Heavey.

It was painfully clear nobody at the head table wanted to be there. I saw a group of people badly in need of Ritalin. The audience was more well behaved. Of course anybody behaves better than Paul Ciolino. Candace and Waterbury retained a modicum of composure, although Candace took to her water bobby at the first mention of Meredith’s name and tragedy.

Maybe this is why they all side with cartwheel flipping girls with ADD.

Hi Hopeful.  Interesting you mention Steve Moore’s referencing Michelangelo.

I really want to step in here and ask that if this “former FBI agent” reads this (which I am sure he does, being fired and with all the spare time on his hands coupled with blind obsession with freeing a murderess).

So here is my advice to him - simple - dont comment on art, and dont bring one of the finest artists of our history into your vile attempt to defend an American murderess for the crime she committed in the land of art and Michelangelo himself.

Art is for those cultured people of the world, those who appreciate and value different cultures and different civilizations.

Sorry if this post is not appropriate - but for such a crass being such as Moore to so much as reference the artistic process of one of the greatest minds of civilization is simply unholy to my mind. Michelangelo was a genius.

Although I cant find the reference to this profanity, the thought of a creature like Moore drawing these parallels angers me to no end.

Again I apologize if my comment is a little strong and perhaps out of line - but I do not withdraw my opinion of Moore.

Hi Giselle. Yes this new-fangled passion for Italy and all things Italian does sound a little forced.

For a very long time Michael Heavey and Steve Moore and Michelle Moore and Candace Dempsey and Paul Ciolino and “Bruce Fisher” have been exuding seething contempt for Italy and the justice officials who work there.

Now they are trying to make water flow back uphill?

Hi Peter, This is the “best”  comment I read for a long time from the latest KOMO article you mentioned before:

JLS1950 109p · 14 hours ago

“I firmly believe tj is funded from an Italian government source of the “spooky” sort. It is a deliberate disinformation site aimed at convincing the American people and the British that a great and deliberate travesty is not being perpetrated in order to “cover” an even more heinous crime.”

If people can not make up evidence that AK couldn’t be there at the crime scene they come up with ideas like this? I am wondering how far can it still go…

Of course there is no word about the “more heinous crime”...

Thanks Hungarian. Conspiraloon talk. I guess we must be rattling someone’s cage.
