regardless of whether or not amanda is convicted, my heart hurts so for meredith’s family.  i have friends who have buried their young adult children - one, a beautiful 18 yr old killed at the hands of her drunk boyfriend; the other, a smart, talented 15 yr old who died unexpectedly from a lung infection.  in both cases i have learned that the fear that haunts these families is that their loved one will be forgotten.  gone.  while it is often awkward, bringing up the name of the deceased person is somehow comforting to the parents of both.  for 15 years my daughter has continued to send cards to her friend’s family on the anniversary of her death.  for the past 3 years, i have done the same for my friend whose son died.  i think the most important thing we can do for meredith’s family is assure them she will NOT be forgotten - even years from now.  we need to say her name often and in a loud voice.

It’s good to see the Kerchers smiling! Relief is in sight, a final verdict.

Peter, thanks for this forum.

I have been praying throughout the day today for the proper outcome in all of this and for the Kercher family and all involved.  I hope that today brings them some peace and closure, although nothing could ever make up for the loss of their precious daughter.  We should continue to pray for a confession to be made and the full truth to come out.  It seems like an impossibility, but nothing is impossible for God.  It may not happen today, but we should have faith that one day soon it will.

When this is all said and done, I really hope we can start some kind of memorial to Meredith that will benefit others, as many on here have suggested…a scholarship fund or a fund for victims of abuse perhaps.  And of course there are many other ways we can honor her in our daily lives as many here have spoken of already.
