Meredith Would Have Been 24 Today: See Why She So Loved Her Home City

Meredith was born in Southwark south of the Thames in London (above video and first below) on 28 December 1985.

Now and then, someone who was friends with Meredith drops us a note. They generally want to offer a little appreciation, say what we do here is helpful to them, and underline how very much Meredith is missed.

Though we never ask, sometimes they add an insight about Meredith. An insight offered more than most is how much of an archetypal Londoner Meredith always remained.

The outgoing confidence, the sharp intelligence, the fierce wit and and fast pace are qualities no good Londoners would be without. We believe Meredith’s family is wishing that this is perhaps how she might best be remembered.

Fill a city with people not too unlike Meredith, and videos like these result. London, a place where her spirit lives on.

I love the London videos. Thanks so much. I love seeing Trafalgar Square, Nelson’s Column, MI5 (I watch BBC MI5 on TV.)

I like the miniatures of New London Architecture. Burbles, cool. Kudos to planners of such massive art shows.

I went to London, a too brief visit in 1983. Meredith, thank you for having lived there, bringing this wonder to us again.

I’d also like to mention in passing that Meredith’s birthday, December 28th, is the Third Day of Kwanzaa, on which is celebrated the principle of Ujima.

From a book I’m reading:

“Ujima means working together and looking after each other…. It reminds families and the community to work toward what is best for everyone…. [The family] can find out about one another’s problems, and help to solve them together.” (p 18 A World of Holidays: Kwanzaa by DB Walton)

I just thought that was interesting. Of course, every day’s principle would apply to Meredith (Faith, Purpose, etc.), but it just seems like if I had to pick a Kwanzaa principle that fit her best, Working Together (also often called Collective Work and Responsibility) would be it.

She just seems like someone that anyone could go to for help with a problem.

These last three months must have been very difficult for both parents and brothers and sister.  I suspect New Years will have another empty hole. But the birthday of your child ringing silently without her favorite cake and silly gifts and her beaming smile must be a hell no others can understand.  I suppose the savings grace is the that the family is loving and supportive to each other even if they feel they are on an island. I hope they know we serve as their little boats on a calm sea waiting to help how ever we can.

Honoring Meredith with love and respect on what must be a day her folks will always remember when she came into their lives a wee baby.  Meredith, a beautiful soul right from the start.
