Gullible, Callous, Or Simply Out For The Money? A Good Reporter Should Ask Her

Posted by The Editor

In fact, please ask actress Hayden Panettiere if she even knows the name of the victim? Does she even know that there WAS a victim?

Click above for the Daily Mail’s report. Meredith’s family are understandably deeply upset, and this decision to play an apparent charming psychopath convincingly convicted of a VERY cruel crime hardly bodes well for Panettiere’s career.

The family of murdered student Meredith Kercher yesterday criticised plans to turn her death into a Hollywood film. The movie will focus on Amanda Knox, the American student jailed for 26 years for the killing.

Actress Hayden Panettiere, best known as the cheerleader in the TV series Heroes, has been cast as “˜Foxy Knoxy’ in the film, called The Amanda Knox Story, which is due for release next year.

The Kerchers’ lawyer Francesco Maresca said the family was unhappy that a Hollywood version of the 2007 murder is being made.  He said: “˜It is inopportune as the trial is still on going with two further appeals.’

Miss Kercher’s mother Arline said it was insulting for the film to be named after her daughter’s killer. She said: “˜I don’t see how they can make a film called The Amanda Knox Story when the story is really all about my daughter. It’s all very odd.’ A spokesman for the Knox family said they had no knowledge of the film, which is being aimed at a U.S. audience.

It will focus on events leading up to Miss Kercher’s death in November 2007 and the subsequent lengthy trial of Knox….

Producers of the film, which is being made for TV, said the Foxy Knoxy story was perfect movie material as it featured an “˜all-American’ girl at the centre of a murder involving sex and drugs.

The script for the Lifetime channel in the U.S. is being written by Wendy Battles, who has penned episodes of CSI New York and the crime show Law and Order.

The 21-year-old is one of the most sought-after young actresses in Hollywood.

An all-American girl? How much do they really know about her? Drug habits and all?  Readers can discuss with fans and Hayden Panettiere’s managers on her forum on the popular and influential IMDB board.

At least one gushing fan there simply can’t wait for the movie.

I, NickSlickReturns, did my bit on the IMDB forum. I’m sure I’m going to be attacked by fans of this actress, but I don’t give a monkeys, as we say in England.

The Variety report says Amanda Knox was “accused” and that the case is “controversial”.

Actually, in Italy, the only place where it matters, Amanda knox was convicted, after a very careful trial. She is no longer simply accused.

And there is no controversy in Italy at all. Everybody believes she did it, having watched the trial on TV and read about it in the Italian language documents.

Since we have the Massei Report, everything being said and shown about this case will expose and reveal truth and justice. Games, movies and roleplaying and earning money with that is of all times. Children start with it at Kindergarten. It seems, people have to do that.
In my country nobody knows the name AK, but probably they will soon and know the details within. As a side effect.
And people worldwide will learn about American media . . . . . . .

Maybe we will see the scene of the german uncle ( which actor, Tom Cruise?) offering the all american girl a job at the Bundestag, the place of all those silly and boring people in contradiction of the Pentagon Movie Heroes. Who´s this uncle anyway? Lurking for her free spirit? Or is he the ultimate Cantwell Enemy? He can´t be the empatic uncle who wants to help a young teenager in her early career.

Who will play Patrick the bar owner? Will we hear some of his music? All bass players I know in my circle of friends would not take the job. For the money? Patrick himself could use the money. But no, Someone else playing him, will get the money. Same for the Perugia Drifter. In my opinion cool and wise real people with great attitude.
Play them! Drink it!

Wow - callous is the word that springs to mind.  I could write an essay on the things I think are wrong with this idea but I won’t, the idea itself is wrong and I will leave it at that.

Not having a TV I’m not that “up” in the who’s who of actors, but given this actress’ age I guess she is looking for roles that are going to further her career.  This is the wrong choice for that.

I hope that nothing comes of this for the sake of the Kercher family.

Will it be filmed in Perugia? Perugia can play Perugia! I´ve been there. It won´t lie.

I hope this can be stopped, I can understand a bit where the Kercher’s are coming from. After reading this I got sick to my stomach. Just the thought of someone making money off of Meredith’s death is sickening

let’s not jump to conclusions here—not all stories are equal. this may be anything but what the mellas/knox families are hoping for…it’s gonna be the writing that makes this story. an actor can only do so much. monster was written over the course of years. the reason charlize agreed to do the script was that it was so well written.

<snip>The trio, who have still maintained their innocence, are said to take part in a sex attack, which ended with Kercher’s throat being slit.

A fake break-in was staged, but Knox’s strange behaviour alerted police.

The film, which will air on US TV next year, will be written by Law and Order’s Wendy Battles.

@mojo

The reverse ethics won´t work for all. ( ¨the mellas/knox camp are not hoping for, so let´s do it)

The graphical exposition of the crime is gruesome in itself.

@Peter: The “accused” moniker regarding Knox reminds me of Knox Clan’s Dempsey with her book “Murder in Italy - The Shocking Slaying of a British Student, the Accused American Girl, and an International Scandal.” The “accused” part says it all (i.e.: denial), especially as it was published after Knox’s conviction - Knox is a convicted murderer.

“Miss Kercher’s mother Arline said it was insulting for the film to be named after her daughter’s killer. She said: ‘I don’t see how they can make a film called The Amanda Knox Story when the story is really all about my daughter. It’s all very odd.’” - This family has been so dignified under the worst of circumstances - how much more can they stand?

Helder, I support the Kercher’s in this respect, but the antics of Knox’ family and their travelling the PR circuit may have just come back to bite them in the end.
