Who Is Behind Repeated Attempts To Make False Claims Of Kercher Suit Against Knox Go Viral?

[Jeanne Sager tweeted and posted “Delusional Kerchers Think Amanda Knox Owes Them $12 Million”]

Is somebody trying very hard to juice the fast-ebbing sympathy for Amanda Knox? Who after three weeks has still not started to explain?

The UK’s Sun (see Google hit below) seems to have been the first to swallow and publish the malicious claim about the Kerchers. Quickly yanked.  The UK’s Daily Mail ran a similar report on the malicious claim on the same day. Quickly yanked.

Several other second-tier media websites ran the false story very briefly, and then they yanked it.

Oblivious, the hack reporter Jeanne Sager of The Stir put the malicious claim on steroids with her post “Delusional Kerchers Think Amanda Knox Owes Them $12 Million”. She added some shrill ugly opinions of her own.

It was finally yanked along with hundreds of hate comments Jeanne Sager had managed to provoke.

And here we ago again. The daily surfacing of the malicious claim. This time TWICE in the Christian Post by their reporters George J. Wienbarg and Ravelle Mohammed.

The Christian Post’s corrections page is here. Both posts have Facebook commenting open below.

[Below: Believed to be the George J. Wienbarg who wrote one of the misleading reports]

According to this report (http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/news/2011/10/20/seattle-pr-firm-reveals-efforts-to.html), the PR propaganda was launched barely three days after the arrest of AK.

It is perfectly normal to see a slow but steady escalation in the efforts to demonstrate her innocence.  But within three days?

Her parents look (appear) genuinely worried (in one of the 4 photos in the same report) but AK’s looks baffle analysis.

It only suggests that her parents were fully convinced of her guilt!  The PR manager never met the person they are defending (till the other day after her release) but this is not all relevant- all propaganda runs on stock material and you just need to change the names and add some photos. Just like political campaigns. Is anyone surprised? Any comments?

Hi Chami. On TJMK this post is about the closest to confirming that Knox’s parents knew all along and you can figure out when it seemed to dawn on Knox’s mom from there.

Mignini has said he believes Knox came very close to a confession in a suspect interview a few days after she was arrested. Her lawyer at the time shut her up (and soon after resigned).

The Supreme Court suggested they believed so too when they noted how her parents hurriedly shushed Knox in a recorded exchange at Capanne Prison after she said “I was there”.

Knox and Sollecito are both recorded as wondering if Meredith’s murder had been carried out by the other, suggesting they themselves (alone) were not there.

Lotsa questions waiting for Ms Knox if and when they finally let let her out unchaperoned in Seattle or on the media with her tongue free to wag.

Some thoughts on the PR supertanker:

Kerchers lead the way in selflessness and dignity.

The PR types are working really hard to find ways to continue to focus on her as a victim.
It’s going to be Martyr Mandy all the way to the bank.

They are trying hard to keep the image of her as fragile and weak through careful feeding of staged photos
(She didn’t turn Italian, so why all the hanging onto sister and friend in her walkabout? She wasn’t hanging on in the earlier photos, before she’d gotten her “walking orders”)

The recycling of the prison abuse claims - all those stories came out, and were pretty much discredited, years ago.
They are only reemerging as filler to keep her name before the public as victim.

And here the demonizing of the real victims, who are painted as cruelly pursuing her for gain.
Pooooooor little Mandy.

Channel 5 are going to air a documentary - Amanda Knox: The Untold Story - on Tuesday, 25 October:

I suspect that PR creep David Marriott has exerted his malign influence again and the documentary will regurgitate the same FOA myths. Predictably, the documentary will feature the seemingly obligatory interviews with Amanda Knox’s family. Apart from Diya Lumumumba, it appears that the producers haven’t bothered to interview anyone else who thinks Amanda Knox is guilty.

I highly recommend downloading John Follain’s book Death in Perugia, which is published on the same day as the Channel 5 documentary:

John Follain hasn’t forgotten that there are two sides to every story and has interviewed Meredith’s friends. It makes a welcome change.

For info, PMF is back online ahead of schedule. Clander was able to fix a number of existing problems and make some needed upgrades, and was able to do so more rapidly than expected.

I read Sager’s blog before it was taken down and of the first 30 comments ONE person questioned whether the story might be false. The rest were raining hatred upon the Kerchers. This don’t-think-for-yourself, definitely-don’t-do-your-own-research mindset is why the PR campaign has been successful.

Of course Sager didn’t offer any kind of apology to the Kerchers, either on her blog or on Twitter. So let me apologise on her behalf.

Can’t wait for the Follain book. The first wave of books suffered from incomplete information, and Burleigh’s is an agenda-driven fiction.

Five days after the media were memeing the wrong and hurtful story of the $12 million suit against Knox (and Jeanne Sager was putting it on steroids and stirring up considerable hate) the media has gone into reverse.

The rebuttal statements of John Kercher and Lyle Kercher have been carried by the Sun in the UK and various outlets in the US - including to their credit King5 Seattle.

[John] Kercher stressed Sunday that the family was not seeking any financial gain, as its civil claim—and an €8.6 million ($12 million) damages award made when Knox was convicted—was merely symbolic in Italian law.

“I find it distasteful that Knox stands to make millions from what happened to Meredith. I don’t think anyone should make money out of it—not us, not them,” he said. “How would any parent feel if their daughter’s murder was to be turned into a movie for people’s entertainment? We would not take a single cent from Amanda Knox.”

Today,  Lyle Kercher, brother of the slain student, said that the reports are false.

“I can assure you that it’s absolute nonsense,” Kercher said.  “I’m not even sure where these fantastical ideas come from sometimes.”
