To Our Readers In Perugia: Please Help Us Identify The Person At Back?

The shots were taken in Perugia during the hearings in September. We want to know who that is in the background. The Kerchers are in the foreground, seemingly completely unaware of her.

The hotel staff or the police or Mr Mignini might be able to help place her. She may of course be hotel staff, or a fellow guest in the hotel who is unrelated to the case.

But when we checked the shots with professional acquaintances in New York, they were certainly interested to know more.

They noted that the security detail of the Kerchers doesn’t seem to be anywhere in sight. In fact, nobody else seems to be anywhere in sight. They also noted she seems to be staring at the Kerchers’ backs with a very peculiar expression.

We are sure this is all above board and that there’s no cause for alarm. But we would like to confirm. Thanks in advance for a tip.

I’ve seen television footage of the same woman lurking behind the Kerchers inside the Perugia courthouse, desperately trying to take a photograph of them. It struck me as very strange at the time. I wondered why she was stalking the family and taking photographs of them when they weren’t looking.

That sounds very puzzling. Staff of the hotel would presumably not be doing that. Obviously not hotel staff, then.

Maybe a paparazzi? But in the shots above she has no camera in evidence.

Mr Mignini the prosecutor has responsibility for care over the Kerchers, and Mr Maresca is their Perugia lawyer

They would now seem the obvious ones to consult for an insight into who she is and what she was up to.

Can someone in Perugia perhaps take this up with them?

An odd person. I wonder if she will show up again in the future. We clearly need to keep watching.

Any new shots and videos would be very nice to have.

Could she be the hotel cleaning lady? She has on those cheap threadbare clothes, and her expression looks to me like she just mopped the marble floor and now the Kerchers are putting their footprints all over it.
