Knox-Camp Denial Of Drug-Ring Link Results In Shot Across Knox’s Bows; Many Now Digging

1. The New Response To The Knox Camp By Giallo

A denial of any links between Knox and the dangerous drug ring on what may be one of Chris Mellas’s numerous websites has resulted in a second, tougher, report from Giallo.

Also (see part 2 below) it has resulted in the posting by Giallo of some hard police evidence (images above) of Knox’s very unsavory associations. This translation of a news-agency summary of the new Giallo story is by Miriam.

Mez Case: Amanda Knox hung out with a pusher and had sex with him

Amanda hung out with a pusher and was intimate with him, so reveals an article of the magazine GIALLO, which publishes documentation of the relationship between the two. This information is contained in an informational note of Perugia’s police, written on the 19th January 2008, two months after the Meredith Kercher murder.

The name of the guy is Federico, a young man from Rome, who ended up in jail for dealing drugs in 2011. As reported by the magazine, the guy “was arrested with two pushers, Luciano and Lorenzo, during an investigation starting from the wire tapping of Amanda Knox’s cell phone”.

The young Roman , according to the informational note, was the pusher for Amanda, and her lover. In fact Federico, according to the document, ” would have occasionally supplied drugs to Amanda Knox and they probably had sexual intercourse.”

It seems that Amanda cited Federico in one of her notebooks that were confiscated after the homicide. He was on the list of Italian guys which she had sex with. On her Myspace profile she had written about him, even including a nude picture of him.

“I met Federico on the train with my sister, while I was going from Milan to Florence. We smoked (pot?), my first smoke in Italy” writes Amanda. ” After we put to bed my little sister, we went into his hotel room. I told my friends I could not imagine myself in bed with somebody I just met, but for Cristiano (??) I changed my mind” writes Amanda.

As GIALLO reports, in the informational note there are many more details on the people she hung out with; “even cited is one of Fedrico’s friends, Luciano A., Napolitan, a person with a criminal record for drug and weapons trafficking and also for attempted murder of his brother with a knife.

Luciano ended up in jail on April 4th 2008 a few months after the informative note.  He was found in Perugia at Fontivegge train station with 20 grams of cocaine.

2. Translation Of The January 2008 Police Report

See the image of a police report at the top here. Giallo posted this Perugia Flying Squad report of 19 January 2008 which notes an association between Amanda Knox and a drug ring uncovered by way of her mobile phone. Translation is by Jools.

QUESTURA DI PERUGIA - SQUADRA MOBILE 3RD SECTION

Perugia 19.01.2008

SUBJECT: Annotation [Brief summary]

[Page1]

We the undersigned Officers and Agents of the Judicial Police of P.G. Chief Superintendent Stefano xxxx and Chief Assistants Lorena xxxx, Andrea xxxx, hereby report as follows:

In the course of the investigation in relation to criminal proceedings 9066/07 [crime case number of Meredith Kercher murder] it was verified that an Italian person with the name of “Federico” would from time to time supply drugs to the [person] known as Amanda KNOX, and also allegedly had relations with her of a sexual nature.

The technical task was then activated of tapping the calls of telephone number xxxxx being used by the same person [Knox].

During this period of phone tapping it was possible to ascertain by the telephone file records of the “Wind” company that [the other phone] was in the name of xxxxxx (still in process of identification) but was being used by Federico xxxx, born in Rome on 18/04/1975, resident in xxxxxx (PG), in fact domiciled in Perugia, address: Via xxxxxxx, Ground Floor. The same [F.] also has frequent contacts with transsexuals, to whom he sells drugs.

By means of the technical activities it was established that xxxx is contacted by phone with the presumed clients “ordering” from him the quantity of drugs they want to buy, and in turn according to the demands he contacts various Maghrebie [north African] individuals ordering the desired amount.

[Page 2]

Federico moves around by car using a model Citroen C1 Tg xxxx. From the investigations carried out the car appears to be in his father’s name identified as Andrea xxxx.

It was also ascertained that xxxxxx associates with habitual criminal characters with multiple criminal records for serious crimes in the matter of drugs and personal grievous harm such as Luciano xxxx, born in xxxx xxxxxxxxxx on 17/11/80, with whom he maintains frequent contacts aimed at drug dealing using the phone line xxxxxxx which users name is assigned to his brother Giuseppe xxxx.

The aforementioned Luciano on 28/07/06 was arrested by the Carabinieri in Foligno on account of being responsible of the ATTEMPTED MURDER of his brother Antonio to whom he inflicted 16 stab wounds with a kitchen knife.

We also note that through verifications on the SDI [the State Police automatic palmprint and fingerprint identification system] Federico xxxx has been several times stopped and checked along with Luciano xxxx and other people from southern [Italy] all convicted habitual criminals in matters of drugs, weapons and more.

Finally we report that Federico occasionally seeks help for the distribution of the narcotic substance from a transsexual, (in course of identification) who used the telephone xxxxxxx.

The above as per duty of office.

Signed…

3. January 2009 Reports Of The Drug Ring Trial

The Giornale Dell’Umbria carried the longest report of the trial, but it is no longer online. In January 2009 Catnip posted these translations of shorter versions.

Terni Magazine

The cocaine traffickers trial(s)

(ASCA) - Perugia, 14 Jan ““ The murder of Meredith Kercher and the context from which it flowed forth, one tied to the “youthful world of standardised behaviours, values and deviances”, continues to generate discussion. Evidencing this, this morning, is the local daily Il giornale dell’Umbria (always attentive to the investigative and procedural phases of cases) which, in telling the news of the sentence of 2 years and 8 months’ imprisonment of a cocaine drug dealer who would have known and visited Amanda Knox, asks itself whether this circumstance would have had considerations in the inquest into the murder and, above all whether, now, it could have implications in the appeal case in regard to the American and to Raffaele Sollecito.

The police arrived at the pusher through the mobile phone numbers found in the list stored on Amanda’s phone. The calls between the two handsets would have taken place [intercorse] in the days prior to and following the murder of Mez, giving rise, therefore, to a deeper understanding that led to the discovery of a drug ring for university students and professionals. A trafficking for which a case file was opened, involving three young men as the main leads (one being hypothesized as the American’s supplier and lover).

In particular, there is a police note [informativa] appended to the file in which it is emphasised “during the course of investigative activity relating to criminal proceedings 9066/07 (that for the homicide of Kercher ““ editor) it was ascertained that an Italian person “¦ [ellipsis in original] had occasionally supplied Amanda Knox with stupefying substance [i.e., narcotics ], as well as presumably having had relations of a sexual nature with her”.

The police action, effected also by means of phone intercepts, ascertained that the three supplied the acropolis [= the hill top city centre] of the capital as well as part of the periphery with cocaine, in response to client orders and also to satisfy the request of the North Africans [maghrebini].

The defendants (represented by the lawyers Maria Laura Antonini, Aurelio Pugliese and Angelo Frioni), have opted for different strategies: one a request for judgement in continuation [in continuazione] with other penal positions suspended; one request of plea bargain [patteggiamento], rejected by the judge, and one fast-track, concluded, as mentioned, with the 2 year and 8 month sentence.

Umbria24 Report

Amanda Knox’s “lover” on trial for dealing cocaine: A 35-year-old sentenced who was supplying another two drug dealers.

A young Italian man is on trial who would have given drugs to Amanda Knox and who would have had a sexual relationship with her. So writes the Giornale dell’Umbria today, which in its article cites a passage from a police note that would have been appended to the case file against the young man and two other persons who, according to the prosecution, would have been at the centre of a cocaine drug ring in Perugia. The three were in fact found through intercepts effected during the course of investigations into the murder of Meredith Kercher.

One of the three, a 35-year-old who would have supplied drugs to the other two, defended by lawyer Aurelio Pugliese, was sentenced via fast-track trial to 2 years and 8 months. One of the other two (defended by lawyers Maria Laura Antonini and Angelo Frioni and who are following different paths in proceedings) would have been identified as “Knox’s lover”. The daily cites a police note in support:

«During the course of investigative activity in relation to criminal proceedings 9066/07 (the Kercher murder ““ editor) ““ one can read in the passage reported by the Giornale dell’Umbria ““ it was ascertained that an Italian person”¦[ellipsis in original] would have occasionally supplied stupefying substances to Amanda Knox, as well as having had, presumably, relations with her of a sexual kind«.

4. Likely Billiard-Ball Reverberations

Knox was never charged with drug use or drug dealing.  As Tuesday’s post noted, it was for the defenses to make something of it at Meredith’s murder trial if they wanted to.

Maybe seek a reduced charge arguing diminished responsibility. But they didn’t.

It is clear that neither the police or prosecution put a foot wrong, and by the end of 2009 they had put away both Knox and the drug dealers. And it is clear that it is not they who are now pushing this story.

However Knox will take a lot of hits if she can not come up with better answers - preferably some answers involving the full truth.

  • This grim new story, still unfolding, might next result in the publishing of the police intercepts of Knox’s phone-calls and the appearance of informed people on national TV.

  • The reporting does activate State Department rules about not intervening in foreign trials for crimes with drug components, though via Andrea Vogt’s excellent digging we know that interest was at zero anyway.

  • The much-touted appeal to the European Court of Human Rights is now a non-starter, though what we know of it so mangled the facts and the law that it was probably already in a Strasbourg waste-paper basket.

  • And once again it helps to undermine the Knox-as-timid-nice-naive-girl image which many in Seattle and all in Perugia who encountered her have always known to be more or less opposite of the real Knox.

5. The Picture of Knox Now Coming To Dominate

As our posters Stilicho, Michael and Nell have all noted, Knox’s 2013 book carries plenty of effusive claims about her own extreme naivety, and how all around her were harder and brasher, and pushing drugs, while she participated only occasionally and very reluctantly.

In Italy the timid-nice-girl persona was severely dinged at trial when the viewing population witnessed a loud, hectoring, pushy callous Knox on the witness stand trying to make out she was weak and silly. See our reports of Knox on the stand at the time here and here.

Now, finally, the increasingly dominant picture in the US is one of a highly aggressive risk-taking drug user who may have repeatedly connected with unsavory drug sources long before she ever encountered Sollecito.

Already a heavy drug user, who was quite treacherous enough to publish drug-use accusations about her Perugia room-mates and friends, and put them between herself and the fire.

Maybe the drug reporting will drive home that this was never a good idea

Wow it would appear that Giallo are not backing down and certainly won’t be brow beaten by the Knox camp.

I’ve seen the journalist herself of the original piece challenged on twitter and she did not back down at all and seemed quite confident in standing by the article’s claims.

The Knox pr campaign is in tatters and reduced to a few online trolls who contribute nothing of any substance. This will have no bearing on extradition but will certainly clue more of the public in to “little ms not so innocent”.

Good piece Pete & thanks to Miriam and Jools and Canip for the translations. 😊

By the look of things, thanks to Knox’s hygiene and “cuddly” personality & Federico’s business contacts and general friendliness, Sollecito may have - indirectly & unwittingly - xxxxxxx a couple of transsexuals, I wonder how that fares in his Mafia circles, but who knows, maybe they’re not going to find out 😊 (sorry to be crude, Peter, please feel free to zap this)

Hi Bjorn

Well we cannot be sure of course that the drug ring was doing more than niche marketing. I doubt they were in the business of moral judgements, probably seeing one junkie’s money as good as another’s. The mafioso witness Aviello of course is a transexual (pre-op) so maybe the mafia have no moral delicacies either.

My guess from what we hear about Knox’s days in Seattle is she arrived as a full junkie and had researched the Perugia drug scene. (She sure didnt research the academic scene, and enrolled in essentially nothing, despite seeming lies about this to her parents.)

Not only did Knox “successfully” have a hand in closing down this drug ring (she must have been really busy on her phone 2-5 November which seems the period when they tapped her) but indirectly she led to a major chilling of the whole Perugia drug scene, with a lot more police resources resulting.

Tick tick tick. Surely its only a matter of time before the presumably devastating phone-tap transcripts are acquired by the media. That could seal the tanking of Knox’s image, though I think the Perverts for Knox on all-fours in their black latex always did fantasize about her as a bad girl.

Why was Knox so scared to head for Florence? Her lawyers went to Seattle and argued with her for a week to turn up in court for HER appeal. She declined. Having ticked off a knife-prone and imprisoned drug dealer who might come looking? That would sure be a top reason.

Why didnt she tell THAT to Judge Nencini? Assuming he didnt know already. In both Seattle and Perugia the REAL Knox is widely perceived. She thinks she isnt, but she really fools no-one except the slobbering Moores, Fischers and Heaveys.

This is just awful. Knox in bed with drug pushers and possibly prostituting herself in exchange for a discount on drugs. She was flirting with the criminal fringe and she’s lucky she didn’t get AIDS.

It is almost unbelievable, given her clean cut All American sweetheart image she has been selling to Marriott and writing her own book about and carrying to TV talk shows. Outlandish hypocrisy.

Her need to hide these drug pusher connections is one more explanation of why she got so quiet for those early years in Capanne. She didn’t want Federico or Giuliano or Giuseppe or their transsexual friends showing up at Capanne on visiting day hustling for future customers, or, if afraid of the police guards there, sending a proxy.

In some of Amanda’s long conversations with Meredith she might have spoken about some of these drug dealers. Knox might have bragged about it at the time, hoping to impress or even intimidate Meredith with her wild ways. Meredith’s sixth sense may have been alarmed at the direction Knox was going.

For the good, prison did work as drug rehab for both Raf the woozy and his ultimate Fox. It sobered her up. She wouldn’t want the female inmates to know she had drug connections, the women might start pressuring her for a supply for themselves or their boyfriends on the outside.

I can’t believe Knox went to Federico’s hotel room and partook only of marijuana with him there if he had a stash of hard drugs with him and was selling things like cocaine. However, the police didn’t find signs of it in her hair follicles.(?)

Seems Knox’s one accidental virtue was to cause a crackdown on the drug trade in Perugia by providing evidence to police in her phone. No wonder she was so afraid to return to Florence. ‘Rico may have unfriended her. Bet he didn’t like her using his half nude photo on MySpace, putting his business out there.

Now we know why Mr. Marriott went to UW classrooms to warn the students about cleaning up their social media. Has that half-nude photo of Knox’s drug pusher ever surfaced? And now we learn that the Seattle Prep soccer goalie, aspiring writer and honor student has a cocaine merit badge and a Rico as well as a Rocco in her life. Jekyll-Hyde lifestyle.

She lied about her extensive drug use while throwing that term at her boyfriend. She might have wanted to excuse herself to her parents by suggesting Raf pushed her into drug use. She lied about the name of her train encounter guy, and hid their hookup from Deanna.

She lied about being reluctant to use drugs yet she put a coke dealer on speed dial and even after a murder did not delete his name? and was still making calls to him. She may have already been addicted. She was getting Raf back deeper into drugs, she knew his weakness.

Then he pretended to swear off marijuana to his dad after his arrest to falsely insinuate that marijuana was all he had been using. With his girlfriend into coke dealers and wanting to experiment that seems doubtful. Now we know why Raf said Amanda lived her life as if in a dream, caring only for pleasure. She made him look disciplined in comparison.

Hi Hopeful

Amanda “The Dealer Who Shagged Me” Knox’s dealer may have been one of the pesky visitors at the house that so irritated Meredith.  We need images if we are to find out, and if he appears on Porta a Porta or other TV we’ll have them.

It was true as Giallo claimed in article #1 that Sollecito lawyer Maori in his 2009 trial summation did say that RS was not on cocaine on the night but someone else was. Wink wink.

Hair tests for drugs are not too wonderful and nobody can say Knox was drug-free based on that. Let her explain the many symptoms - the smell of cat urine, the extreme highs and lows, the frequent giggles and depressions, the conniptions at the questura.

Your mention of an AIDS risk puts her Capanne HIV test result in a new light. We know it was her own team that leaked that claiming malicious intent, I wonder if they realise she really had been playing with fire as the prison medical staff surely did.

Just from a pragmatic point of view - where did the energy come from to sustain being awake, planning and executing the clean-up as well as the staged break-in?
As I understand it, marijuana tends to have a soporific affect, leaving everything to the never-never, time wise.

Are there photos the morning after indicating an ashen look, as if the blood is temporarily draining from the face?

Hi SeekingUnderstanding

See below. We’ve actually had emails from ex amphetamine users (yes there are some) saying the look was a classic example of an amphetamine high (coke or crystal meth) which is what all the cops presumed it was.

We’ve never had anyone say that was the look of someone who smoked a little marijuana - although skunk can have strange effects.

And Knox’s smell was extremely telling, that cat urine smell is distinctive and wont go away, take 10 showers and it will still be there.

Hello Peter,

And hello everyone, first comment here. Just a quick thank you for an outstanding translation series: The Knox Interrogation Hoax. Thanks to all the translators. Very powerful and revealing, making the “story” less one-sided. PLUS, it’s in the court transcripts taken under oath.

They clearly show the professionalism of the police as they investigated the brutal murder of an innocent young woman. The “hoax”, I think, is making it about anything else.

Is there another photo of Amanda more in the light - to specifically see the colour of her skin?
I suppose with Raf it may have been cold and tiredness?

Oh silly young people! Why didn’t they just ‘fess up? I suspect by the end of all this they’ll wish so too, or at least RS will, if he doesn’t already.

Thank you Pete.

I note that in all 24 snaps (where visible) Amanda’s forehead, especially around the eyebrows and temples is drawn white; so is her upper lip; her eyes are narrowed and eyebrows sometimes knitted; her mouth in every one is firmly turned right down at the corners - even in 3 where she is supposed to be smiling the mouth corners are not turned up, but level, and her eyes remain narrowed.

Thank you ALL for the continued professional posts, translations, and effective Twitter assaults. You are all aweseome! TJMK is my daily reading, and this slow but sure unraveling is bringing me great satisfaction.

Even if Knox or Sollecito ever confess there will still be their crazy firewall of supporters who will claim that the “innocent kids” were forced into a false confession or did it so as not to put their families through any stress etc. I do admire all of you who interact with their crazy camps because I couldn’t do it.

If that really was “a” who asked “Aren’t you tired?”—it must be because she is so very very tired of seven years of lies and deception. I can’t imagine what it’s like to live in that skin.

Roll on, TJMK, roll on…

Good observation - that would be classic projection and highly suggestive imo that it was indeed her.

Hi Frances

Thanks and welcome. More posts in the Interrogation Hoax series starting next week. The series will enter its highly impactful phase when we start quoting Knox and the many others (especially the “profilers” like John Douglas and Clemente) and Kassin who bought her line (actually several lines) on the “interrogation”.

Heres our past posts on Kassin who has gone very quiet and detached himself (or been detached) from John Jay College in New York here.

I have researched the art prints that Meredith taped to her door. Many thanks to H9 and the gallery on PMF.org which shows them in a gallery labeled Crime Scene, Meredith’s door #11.

One is a frothy cresting blue wave, the “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” with 3 fishing boats struggling in a storm. Mt. Fuji is in the background. The Japanese artist who did this famous woodcut is named Hokusai.

The second poster near her door handle is also by Hokusai and shows Mt. Fuji in the background. The foreground has 2 horses and 4 people climbing a hill. The name of this is “Inume Pass in the Kai Province” by Hokusai. It relates to an old Japanese story, the tale of the bamboo cutter.

The smaller sepia colored prints on Meredith’s door are both by Leonardo da Vinci. One is known as Vitruvian man, a human figure shown with outstretched arms. Leonardo was working out the proportions of the ideal human body, showing the man’s arms extended in different directions along a circle. Above and below this anatomy study is Leonardo’s remarkable mirror image handwriting that runs from right to left. One must hold it up to a mirror to read it.

The other da Vinci print is called “Testa di Giovinetta” which means Head of a Young Woman. She is gazing downward demurely and is beautiful as a sketch for an angel or a Madonna.

Poetic associations with this case suggest that all these prints on Meredith’s door have significance. I think Meredith is the great wave in the Hokusai picture that is breaking over the 3 people tried for her murder, symbolized by the 3 fishing boats. She also had the book in her room, Sea of Truth.

I think Meredith is the special child in the bamboo cutter story. It tells of an old man who had no children. He cut down a glowing bamboo and inside found a tiny child. He and his wife raised her as their own. His reward was to later find gold nuggets inside every bamboo.

His daughter grew more beautiful than all other girls. Princes came to woo her. She set impossible tasks for them so they left without her hand in marriage. Then the Emperor himself came, the Mikado. She showed him great respect but wept and said she was not of his people and could never enter his palace. She was from the moon. She knew it was nearly time for her moon people to reclaim her. Soon heavenly beings like herself took her back with them. These types of early sci-fi myths may be tied to modern manga themes like Sailor Moon.

The Japanese artist, Hokusai, made 100 Views of Mt. Fuji and wrote a book for artists. He said that every object can be drawn using the relationship between a circle and a square. The circle and square are both seen in da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.

Hokusai was the son of a mirror maker. He used 30 different pseudonyms during his lifetime, changing his name each time he began new art. The Great Wave made him famous. It was produced at age 60 when he was struggling with health, loss of a wife, and a bankrupt grandson. The print is said to reflect the holy versus the secular (Mt. Fuji the sacred mountain in contrast to ordinary fishermen on the sea). Also the wave is moving from left to right in contrast to Japanese writing which moves right to left. Some say the wave forms a circle over Mt. Fuji, creating yin and yang.

You can order any of Meredith’s art prints online. All four prints represent movement, even the seemingly still head of the woman, which is gently turning to the left. This Testa di Giovinetta is said to “bring stillness to a room, tranquility” and is a lovely portrait.

The mystical symbolism of Meredith’s art choice remains intriguing.
