The Meredith Case Wiki: A Highly Objective Summation Of The Case From Original Docs And Transcripts

Posted by James Raper

Some of our readers may not have noticed the new link to The Meredith Case Wiki to be found in the left hand column of this front page. I had not noticed it myself until recently.

This is an important link to a new website that is now a vital additional resource for those interested in understanding this case.

The website - The Murder of Meredith Kercher - is run by Edward McCall, with the assistance of other contributors, and TJMK is pleased to acknowledge and promote its distinctive and concise approach to presenting the facts of the case.

The site is modelled on the format of a page from the Wikipedia free encyclopedia.  As with a Wiki page it is easily navigable. The data presented under the various headings is the consequence of much research but it still remains a work in progress. Wherever possible the material used is referenced in footnotes.

It starts on the Main page with a Mission Statement and an Introduction to the case. It then considers the evidence and has a good section entitled Myths Debunked.

The reader can easily access significant court documents: the Massei Report, the Hellmann Report, the Galati Appeal and the Supreme Court of Cassation Motivations Report. There is an accessibly summary of the Matteini and Micheli Reports.

In particular, for the researcher, there is a most welcome section entitled Court Transcripts. Here can be found transcripts of witness testimony from the Massei and Hellmann trials, experts reports, and the various writings and testimony of Amanda Knox, Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Guede. At least that is to be the hope ultimately as there exist a good number of gaps at present.

Already some of the witness statements have been translated from Italian to English but there are a number of transcripts still to be translated. If there are any translators who would wish to help, please contact us and we shall be pleased to put your name forward.

McCall wishes to acknowledge the massive contribution made by True Justice for Meredith Kercher. TJMK has perforce grown organically and exponentially over the years and has accumulated a breadth and wealth of data, in-depth analysis and informed comment on the case which is unsurpassed on the internet, or indeed anywhere.

It will continue to do so and report developments until the conclusion of all aspects of the case.

Comments

The Meredith Case Wiki is a fundamental source of direct, primary information on the murder of Meredith Kercher.

Great original documents in Italian, professional quality translations. It’s a one stop shop for unbiased, non-PR-spin information concerning this case.

The perp PR campaigners are furious with the Wiki, which is one of the best indications of its contribution to obtaining Justice for Meredith, and communicating the Truth in this tragic case.

Thanks to McCall and all the many others who have helped the Wiki see the light of day, and who maintain it and allow it to grow.

(Thanks too, James, for reminding readers of the site)

The good thing about the wiki (I have visited it several times in recent times) that it is nicely organized and contains only official information.

It is very nicely produced (but some minor scopes are still there for improvement) and is very readable.

There are no discussions- I could not log onto the wiki talk page. As there are nothing to edit (mostly things are court documents) but there are plenty of talking points.

Thanks McCall!

It is a superb piece of work and I’ve added it to my profile on Twitter as my “contact website”.

McCall you’ve done an utterly fantastic job! Bravo.

The Wiki site is indeed, a superb reference site, and kudos to the team that put it together.(Disclosure: I made some minor edits here and there)

And a big thank you to all of the Meredith Kercher community. Because of you, a victim’s voice has been heard. Hugs all around.

I too would like to express my gratitude to McCall and his team for having taken the time to put all the available material together in such a comprehensive form. It is an excellent resource for everyone interested in the facts of the case.

A brilliant resource for journalists and researchers or anyone else wanting easy access to the facts of the case. Thanks to everyone involved.

http://www.king5.com/community/news-releases/EXCLUSIVE-INTERVIEW-WITH-AMANDA-KNOX-ON-KING-5-NEWS—228812151.html

Most of the “journalists” who’ve covered this case should just acknowledge that they’re not really journalists.  In this case, the PR person for King 5 says that Linda Byron got the “exclusive” interview because of “great reporting, years of persistence and the trust Byron earned throughout the process.”

If a PR person brags that a reporter is getting the first exclusive local interview of a controversial figure because she’s earned the “trust” of the interviewee, she’s describing the behavior of a sycophant, not a journalist.

What journalists should be paying attention to is the evidence that’s at the heart of this crime.  It is the very rare U.S. journalist who seems to understand that the “crime scene” includes not just the room in which the murder occurred, but also the various places where the murder cleaned and covered up, including the bathroom that Amanda and Meredith shared.  It is also the very rare U.S. journalist who has taken the time to clearly understand the body of evidence that Italian courts are considering.

Why was everyone in the U.S. so stunned when the Supreme Court of Italy issued its verdict?  Because media hadn’t done its job to help people understand the case.

Thank you James and thanks to Edward Mc Call and his assistants.

Has anyone seen the BBC Hardtalk interview with Raffaele on 4/92013.

I saw it on the internet yesterday. The interviewer had only a couple of questions for Raff and one was why did you change your alibi and say Amanda went out and did not return till 1am.

The other question by Stephen was look i dont want to pin you down but can you give me a guarantee that you will return to Italy to face the new Appeals Trial.

Raff hedged at first but then he confirmed he will be there after the preliminaries so presumably on 6th Nov., 2013.

Hi Mason2, I think RS is waiting for his lawyers to get some indication whether there are any surprises coming up October 30 when the experts file their DNA report. So, he’s hedging his bets till then. IMHO.

I want to add my thanks to McCall for the website. A great, great resource that is simple and straightforward to use. The collection of court testimony is a critical part. It helped refresh my memory on the case.

On behalf of McCall and all the editors on the Meredith Kercher Wiki, I’d like to thank all of you for your kind words here. They’ve been very busy transcribing the original trial documents but appreciate it very much. It was an honour to meet so many people who took up a cause for this amazing young woman, and how we all learned from it.

Meredith Kercher, RIP

@Mason2

Yes I saw that. If I remember correctly..Sollecito when asked about why he changed his alibi;saying that Amanda left and did not come back until 1am;
Well Sollecito blamed it all on the police. “I did not know it was that night ( the night of the murder) they were talking about” he said. Sollecito said.  ” I thought they were talking about another night”.

Pardon? The interviewer on SoftTalk..let that pass.He was simply confused in his own languaage.!

Hard to believe a word Simple Sollecito says.

Posted by Olliebear on 10/24/13 at 12:04 AM | #

RS saying he did not know what night the police were talking about is simply ludicrous.

i seem to recall an exchange between AK and GM in court something to do with her being forgetful or confused from time to time. GM basically made her look stupid. (not hard to do )

i cant remember the exchange word for word but i’m sure someone here will be able to remind us all.

AK and RS are simply lying toads

Posted by mollythecat on 10/24/13 at 02:46 PM | #

This is the exchange between GM and AK that i mentioned above. It cringeworthy stuff. There are many more examples, but this extract for me, shows just how utterly stupid this woman is….

GM:
But you said that you remembered Piazza Grimana.
AK:
I had an image of Piazza Grimana.
GM:
An image of Piazza Grimana, that’s right. Now listen, in the interrogation, page 95, the same interrogation, but the same expression turns up in other places, I can give references if necessary…
[Start of 6:54 minute video segment] ...I asked this question: Why did you throw out an accusation of this type? In the confrontations with Mr. Lumumba (I was continuing and you answered right away): “I was trying, I had the possibility of explaining the message in my phone. He had told me not to come to work.” Perfectly normal things. So, faced with a perfectly normal circumstance, “My boss texted me to tell me not to come to work and I answered him,” you could have just stated that. End of response. Instead, faced with the message, and the questions of the police, you threw out this accusation. So I am asking you, why start accusing him when you could calmly explain the exchange of messages? Why did you think those things could be true? }}
AK:
I was confused.
GM:
You have repeated that many times. But what does it mean? Either something is true, or it isn’t true. Right now, for instance, you’re here at the audience, you couldn’t be somewhere else. You couldn’t say “I am at the station.” You are right here, right now.
AK:
Certainly. [Some noise]
GCM:
The question is clear.
AK:
Can I answer?
GCM:
[quelling noise] Excuse me, excuse me! Please, go ahead.
AK:
My confusion was because firstly, I couldn’t understand why the police was treating me this way, and then because when I explained that I had spent the whole time with Raffaele, they said “No, you’re a liar”. It was always this thing that either I didn’t remember or I was lying. The fact that I kept on and on repeating my story and they kept saying “No, you’re going to prison right now if you don’t tell the truth,” and I said “But I’ve told the truth,” “No, you’re a liar, now you’re going to prison for 30 years because either you’re a stupid liar or you forgot. And if it’s because you forgot, then you’d better remember what happened for real, right now.” This is why I was confused. Because I didn’t understand. I didn’t understand why. I didn’t understand anything any more. I was so scared and impressed by all this that at some point I thought What the heck, maybe they’re right, maybe I forgot.
GM:
So, and then, you accused Lumumba of murder. This is the conclusion.

“... but this extract for me, shows just how utterly stupid this woman is…...”

No, not stupid, mollythecat. She understood the implications of the question well enough. She’s an honors student, don’t forget! She also understood that the only way out was to completely avoid answering the question and make a play for people’s sympathy instead.

Posted by James Raper on 10/24/13 at 05:10 PM | #

Yes, AK is very clever at recognizing where the ‘wriggle room’ is within a question, and very quick at wriggling right into it.

If there isn’t any wriggle room available - eg. the mixed blood in the small bathroom, - she steers clear.

I’ve just watched the King5.com interview Part 2.

http://goo.gl/nD7Hn3

Knox is her usual emotionless self when it comes to Meredith’s murder. All she can say when Linda Byron shows her a picture of Meredith is how she looks younger than she remembers. So that’s a fail then on this modified Rorshach -like test: the correct answer is sadness and tears. I mean I’m sure most of us get close to that just looking at Meredith’s pictures here, and we never even met her.

Nice to know the horrific death still affects this sensitive (cough) lady so deeply.

Can someone in the the next TV interview please show her a picture of the cutlery drawer at the cottage as it was when Mignini (?) showed it to her and she panicked. That at least might again bring up something resembling an emotion.

‘Honours student’

Deary me…If i’ve heard Curt and Edda roll that dice once, i’ve heard it a million times.

But what does that even mean ?

Does it mean she’s not capable of taking someones life in the most cruel vile way imaginable ?

No .... it just means she’s an ‘Evil honours student’

Another old favourite they like to repeat is ‘Amanda and Raffaele met at a classical music concert’

They’ll be changing their name to the family Von Trapp next.

Sorry people i don’t mean to make light of this dreadful crime, theres nobody more angry than me that they have tasted freedom. Sometimes joking helps me to not focus on the sheer brutality of their crime.

Their freedom stings me like bees under my shirt, like sand in my eyes.

I’m truly grateful that good decent people like Peter, and everyone else who contributes to this website, are trying to make a difference and fight for Meredith and her family. you are truly wonderful souls, I’m honoured to join you.

Honors student???  No mention of this in Knox’s book. Actually it does not seem to be in the public record at all that Amanda Knox was an honors student, at least at the Seattle Preparatory School.

Our main poster BR Mull looked into the controversial scholarship named after Knox which Tom Wright funded for the school. See what he said about the claims of Knox being an honors student here:

http://truejustice.org/ee/index.php?/tjmk/comments/fervent_knox_supporter_tom_wright_seemingly_strongarms_knox_high_schoo/

According to the announcement applicants should demonstrate the same “moral courage, strength of character under duress and a sincere desire to help others in need” that was supposedly exhibited by Amanda Knox.

Let’s pause right there.

Claims of “wrongful prosecution” and “years of unjust incarceration” are way premature, and contradicted by all these posts here.

“Moral courage” means taking a risk in order to do what one believes is right. Put aside for a moment the overwhelming evidence that Knox did murder Meredith Kercher. To what instance of moral courage could the school possibly have been referring? We don’t have a clue.

“Strength of character under duress” is pretty much expected of any upstanding member of society. But if there’s one person to which it surely doesn’t apply, it’s someone who was convicted of falsely accusing her kind boss of murder and wrecking his business. Billions of people have a “sincere desire to help others in need.” What makes Knox notable here?

Why else might Knox have been deserving of a scholarship in her name? It’s often said that she was an “honor student” but we wonder why she wasn’t wearing any honor cords at her graduation while other students had them. Author and Knox innocence proponent Nina Burleigh wrote that she “almost flunked” a religion class and was made to take summer school.

Knox has also been described as a “star soccer player.” The team she played for, however, endured “four bleak, losing seasons” according to Nina Burleigh’s book.

A few teachers and students spoke up rather listlessly and doubtfully for Knox after she was arrested and put on trial. Several are believed to have said that they were really not too surprised to hear of the mess she was in.

That got me intro looking further into the honors student claim, and in a comment below BR Mull’s post I added this:

Knox seems secure in the belief that she has some talent but such claims as “honor student” were made for her rather than by her.

Her two years at the University of Seattle (when she lived near the campus) seem to have been inauspicious, and her study in Perugia was unstructured and lacking in seriousness - maybe a jaunt to get close to cheap drugs for which Perugia once was notorious.

http://truejustice.org/ee/index.php?/tjmk/comments/cutting_through_the_confusion_over_knoxs_status_in_perugia/

The images below are of honor cords, always worn around the neck at graduation in the US, and Knox at her graduation shown not wearing any.

‘A sincere desire to help people in need’ and then allowing Patrick to suffer wrongly accused in jail for 3 WEEKS…show characteristics that are in opposition to each other.

Someone who wants to help others in need would never, ever have left him there to suffer, even supposing they could have put him there in the first place.

It is one of the most heartless, calculating, callous acts I have ever heard of.

And that is proven.

Posted by SeekingUnderstanding on 10/25/13 at 01:18 AM | #

They both knew Patrick was innocent

They both knew nothing had been stolen

They both Knew Meredith was in the bedroom

They both knew Meredith had died near the wardrobe

They both knew Meredith died a long slow agonising death

They both knew Meredith screamed

‘A sincere desire to help people in need’

They both left a young woman bleeding to death, in absolute agony, unable to shout for help, barely able to breath, all alone, in a pitch dark, cold room. Then ran off into the night like the rats they are…..

The Meredith Case Wiki is a wonderful site. It is succinct and a great resource for journalists or case research. Thank goodness for its accuracy that combats the many falsehoods on the internet that favor Amanda’s innocence by denying the clues that lead right to her door.

The wiki site clarifies one alarming fact: it says that the Supreme Court of Cassation “accepts that footprints made by Amanda Knox, containing her and Meredith Kercher’s DNA, were made in blood.”

To me this is proof positive that Amanda Knox was at the murder scene, walking in blood. What possible conclusion can the Florence court make of this Luminol finding when it places Amanda absolutely walking in the victim’s blood? Case closed, and she has been lying all this time and trying to confuse the Luminol findings with talk of TMB tests trying to deny the biggest evidence of her presence in the cottage, her footprints in blood.

If that were the only proof that existed, it would tie her directly to the crime.

Thank you, Mr. Edward McCall and all those responsible for the Meredith Case Wiki.

Posted by Hopeful on 10/25/13 at 02:04 AM | #

This is wonderful since I remember full well that when Wiki first brought out the comments and history of Merediths murder they were browbeaten by the Knox P/R machine to modify what they had written so that there were lies and facts included that were supposition/opinion and not true.

This indicates most strongly that wiki has changed their tune and decided to state a more realistic case using facts that have been established scientifically and with great care.

The forces of evils usual trick is to zero in on just one aspect of the case and try to disprove that. A single fact on it’s own is not difficult to disprove but taken in the entirety it is of course impossible.

I noticed the other day that some people in Seattle who try to write in defense of Knox use the most stupid reasons. Example one of them said she knew Edda personally, and what a wonderful family they were, ignoring the fact that Knox’s father was taken to court twice for non payment of child support.

Also that it was generally excepted that he is some kind of a bully who gets violent when he does not get his own way.

Knox said in an interview that her mother was just like her, in other words a “Free Spirit” wink wink…I wonder just what that means since Knox in well known for her lack of morals and hygiene but I suppose we will never know.

Compare RG:

1. He admitted his presence;
2. He expressed some form of regret;
3. He did not blame another innocent;
4. He acted dignified in his court testimony;
5. He has been most vilified.

I try my best not to show any bias but the court testimonies by the superheros are certainly not helping!

Who is the better human being? YOU decide.

@ Peter:

“Our main poster BR Mull looked into the controversial scholarship named after Knox which Tom Wright funded for the school. See what he said about the claims of Knox being an honors student here:”

Peter,

Yes, I remember reading about this “scholarship” some time back.

It is unfortunate that many people have been fooled by the Knox’s PR machine, and bought their lies.

It is absolutely outrageous that there is a “scholarship” in “honor” of a convicted felon, the calunnia conviction, and even worst, Knox was convicted of murder !

I do believe the Appeals Court will get it right this time !

Posted by MissMarple on 10/25/13 at 09:48 AM | #

Has any student ever taken up the Knox scholarship?
Surely not. Compare that with the award the citzens of Perugia support for the Meredith Kercher Scholarship. It was lovely to watch the heartfelt presentation of that award in Perugia attended by Stephanie Kercher.

Sometime back I argued with a FoA clan and it left a very bad taste in the mouth. But the least they can do is to publish her academic records and degrees (scanned copies).

They can also publish her bank statements during that fateful week, if they want.

Till that is done, they are simply lying.

Thank you for the link to the interview, it was informative.

Regarding the reaction to being shown the photograph : there is actually a very significant non-verbal reaction, which is very swift but also definite. In fact it is of such consequence that it is better not to spell it out, in case the body language too is then subjected to being controlled and contrived.
Do look again, though.
There is emotion, just submerged.

@ chami

As we approach the sixth anniversary, none of them, for me, have ever shown any real emotion. There have been no real tears, and certainly no cries for forgiveness, or mercy.

If they explained themselves fully, threw themselves on the mercy of the court, apologised from their hearts, and meant it, showed some real remorse, maybe the healing process could begin for the Kerchers, and indeed for all of us.

If any of them ever wants to begin healing inside, they should explain to the world, what, when, why, how, etc

They’ve had several opportunities to do so but failed every single time.

One can only assume that the lack of remorse shown by them can only be interpreted as them having none.

I think any of them, are capable of a repeat of this crime.

if it was up to me, none of them would see the light of day, ever again.

I don’t think the Kerchers are a vindictive family. I think they are full of love, the type of family that could forgive in time, but only if real remorse is shown

RIP Meredith

@ mollythecat ‘I think any of them are capable of a repeat of this crime’ I agree with you totally.

I believe that Amanda Knox is an extremely dangerous person and Raffaele Sollecito also although he is a weak man and a follower. Amanda in my opinion is a ticking time bomb.

There are many crime shows called fatal attraction which is the bond they share.

They cannot show any real human emotion simply because they have none. If they had any real human sensitivity, they would not be part of the criminal gang.

They cannot explain themselves even partly because no explanation is possible or acceptable for the crime they did together.

They have nothing to contribute for the healing process. But justice can be delivered still and that can start the healing process. It is the judges and the recognition of the violence that helps in the healing process, even if it is only partial. Even if the wounds heal, the scar will still be visible. Perhaps the senses will be dulled but in the mind it will be always present, and never forgotten. In that sense, it will never heal.

I personally feel that law and the justice is not vindicative. None of the three is capable individually to execute such a violence; it is the collective dynamics- call it fate- that is responsible.

I personally believe that nobody is ever beyond redemption.

Kerchers have shown their graciousness by their silence: that is not a show of weakness. It shows inner strength.

Of course these are my personal opinion. But I have tried my best to be unbiased. We can still order then 1-2-3.

Posted by chami on 10/25/13 at 07:54 PM | #

@chami

Deep subject!

One definition of healing is “to restore (a person) to spiritual wholeness”.

“Spiritual wholeness” - a permanent on-going recognition of being connected to “the whole”. For most of us this sense is mercifully innate, albeit maybe stronger at times than others and varying in depth between people. But what about those who (like AK and RS?)have seemingly not been graced by nature or nurture with this sense AT ALL? They likely inhabit totally different universes where moral and ethical codes for example might be seen by them as mere petty and annoying encumbrances to their individual wills.

In transpersonal psychology even someone stuck at the extreme, pathological end of the egocentricity spectrum (like a psycho/sociopath) is seen as having an “inner healer” which is unconsciously directing them - sometimes via a long and winding road - toward wholeness.

For someone who has committed a crime their journey will be unconsciously impelling them to face the consequences of their actions. To face judgment. Being locked away in a dark place, in a cell, the better to facilitate the healing journey and the “dark night of the soul” is the only thing that can and should be done for them. It’s their journey, only they can make it. Our institutions of justice has deep and wise roots (although in this context is it really merciful to the prisoners to have prisons modeled on hotels, as Capanne is by all reports? I think the plot is being lost there.)

In a very real sense we are actually cooperating with the higher selves of our deadly duo by putting them behind bars for a very long time. Someone should remind them to thank us, if they ever get to finish their journeys -:)

Hi SeekingUnderstanding

I’ve watched the video again, and I can see the unconscious attempt to hide her mouth (in an attempt to hide her real feeling of hate?) while smiling at Linda Byron in a way that suggests something like “This is silly and not really important, she’s dead - let’s not get stupidly sad”.

Is that what you got or am I missing something?

This neutral impartial stand-alone Wiki is the way the entry on the crime SHOULD have been in the Wikipedia.

It resembles Wikipedia entries for all other crimes we have read or linked to because they were not hijacked by the perps’ paid mob.

Check this Wikipedia entry for a highly biased and extremely out-of-date piece of work by the perps’ paid mob, who quote only themselves and their books as “impartial sources”.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Meredith_Kercher

This entry is a shameful matter. It really deserves scathing condemnation and may have a legal challenge soon. Several posters on PMF wrestled for a while with the perps’ mob whose full-time jobs are to mischaracterize the case.

This post on the entry was by someone who had been very involved:

http://truejustice.org/ee/index.php?/tjmk/comments/evolution_of_the_wikipedia_article_on_the_murder_of_meredith_kercher/

The highly biased English-language Wikipedia came to contrast strongly with the Italian-language Wikipedia as you can see here.

@Peter,

I have contributed to wikipedia (mostly corrections and suggestions) and I have a good opinion about it. It is quite excellent in science subjects. Sometimes I think people have taken up a topic without knowing much but people have come to help and the page has turned out finally quite nice.

I have read the page on MoMK twice- when it started and now again recently after your post above.

The author is quite smart, familiar with the topic and well versed (nuanced is the correct word?) with wikipedia philosophy. The style is almost professional (he can churn out one such page every day) and is well connected with sources. And my objection it there itself!

Anybody who is thoroughly familiar with the subject and is intelligent enough, can see through the fog. That the author decided not to see is the point I am trying to raise. I strongly suspect that the author is closely connected with the PR machine and has done this job as a professional.

More interesting is the talk section where you can see many people with diverse views trying to say something differently all at the same time. And the author is conspicuous by his absence (I feel).

Well, it is the image of wikipedia that has taken the beating.

Yes, it’s a great shame for the reputation of Wikipedia . I’m surprised the management are prepared to allow this - what a pity.
I agree about using wiki for scientific information, especially succinct definitions. It is advisable to double check against the entries, but I often find them the best.
So even more of a shame.

Wikipedia has a concept called “reliable source”. Once I encountered a reliable source (taken from the talk page):

==============
  The New York Times says:

A washing machine on spin cycle is a centrifuge, its whirl creating artificial gravity that separates water (heavy) from clothes (light).
A good washing machine spins about 15 revolutions per second.

A washing machine on a fast speed (“1000 RPM”) is about 15 RPS- during the spin cycle. However, clothes are heavy and water is light. No proof needed: most clothes sink in water. Cotton and most synthetics have a density of around 1.2 (approx value; depends on the processing).</quote>

According to wikipedia, if nytimes says that water is heavier than fabric, it must be correct!

@chami
I did say it’s necessary to double (or triple?) check!
Being very discerning is essential using the Internet…...
