Sad To See Anne Bremners Brother Doug Increasingly The Hottest Of The FOA Hotheads

Posted by Peter Quennell

Seattle lawyer Anne Bremner helped to bring the FOA alive and Michael Heavey into the talk circuit.

We have good reason to believe that a while back one of her brothers, Doug Bremner, thought she was taking things rather too far. But when Anne rose to major prominence in Seattle news last year, and not in a good way, she gave signs of retreating to the sidelines.

And now not only is Doug on his blog and twitter sounding hotter than Anne ever did - he also seems in unholy alliance with “Bruce Fisher” who runs his own muddled, sliming and largely fact-free campaign.

As you can see described on PMF at great length in recent posts, Doug has got himself into a childish confrontation with a 16 year old blogger, Daric, who having actually read Massei and Barbie Nadeau on the case refuses to swallow the FOA kool-aid.

Now claims like these are appearing on Doug’s blog and twitter.

“Do not send your kids to Perugia. The judicial system and police are rated only above Iran and N. Korea. This is not safe for your kids.”

“Perugia and possibly all of Italy are a police state that is very dangerous without proper due process and rights.”

“Not an issue of nationalism or anti Italianism. This is a very serious issue. Italians have sloughed into a state where they lost freedom”

Hmmm. He seems to be channeling Preston & Spezi. Perhaps Doug and his commenters should check the real facts on the state of the Italian system.

In Italy complaints almost all revolve around it being too cautious, and thus too slow, and usually pretty lenient on the perps. Italians are mostly very proud of their system and almost never claim that it has gone haywire.

Here are some of its fundamental good qualities.

1) While Italy’s population is 1/6 that of the US its prison population is only 1/30 that of the US. It has no death penalty and its prison programs are considered among the most humane.

2) The checks and balances in the judicial system exceed those of any other country in the world and they are built into the (post WW II) constitution.

3) Cases usually pass through several magistrates’ hands before they ever go to trial, and Italian prosecutors have more hoops to jump through than any other prosecutors anywhere.

4) Prison sentences under three years are almost always suspended and in those cases no time is ever served.

5) Two levels of appeal are automatic, and usually convicted perps are free on bail throughout - and not regarded as convicted until the Supreme Court finally rules that they are.

And one other thing. If Doug is seriously trying to help Amanda Knox, he might accept that Amanda’s own lawyers have repeatedly asked for such sliming of the prosecution and the system to stop.

There is absolutely no sign that it works. And in fact the hard line taken in all trial outcomes and appeal outcomes so far may be indicating just the opposite.  .

A good brother can support a sibling emotionally without drowning in the same choppy waters. Seems a bro who knows psychology would have steered clear of the very problems he aims to rescue sister from.

No, not that smart, because now he has picked up the torch of wounded feelings, FOA propaganda and childhood issues of his own not to mention a resentment that Anne’s drinking and bipolar issues are reflecting badly on him (he thinks?).

He overreacts to the Bruce Fisher Foxy Knoxy Steve Moore gong show temptation that lured his sister in, and now he is drowning himself in a show of solidarity. Bad move. Dancing With the Stars is a far cry from this clumsy move on two left feet.

The Foxy effect, always brings trouble.

I find it sad that these people, who for the most part seem to have the best of intentions, constantly shoot themselves in the foot and do more damage to their cause rather than any good. The Knox supporters are generally a sorry lot anyway with no hope for the future except the imminent failure of their hope for an acquittal. It must be very frustrating for them to know that no matter how loud they scream the end result is assured and Knox and Sollicito will both go to jail for a very long time. To me it’s a mystery to understand how they can ignore the overwhelming evidence against them both and by telling outright lies hope to change the future.

It’s not the first time Doug Bremner has made racist and xenophobic claims on his blog. Last year he claimed that corruption is endemic in Italy:

“That corruption is endemic in Italy is a fact.”

He tried to justify Amanda Knox’s repeated lies with the demonstrably false claim that she was interrogated for 43 straight hours:

“AK was interrogated for 43 straight hours by 12 different investigators who used “tag team” techniques that are not used in most civilized countries. That is called coercion.”

Hi Machine. I have seen Doug Bremner make that claim about the length of the interrogation as well. He is the 43 hour guy.

Each of the FOA have a different number, probably assigned to them by the dopey Bruce Fisher, not known for getting things right. Then they head out like robots. “Beaten for 43 hours, 43 hours, 43 hours.”

In fact all damage Amanda ever did to herself was done in a few seconds when she was just a witness. She was told that Sollecito had pulled the rug out from under her third alibi, and she turned on a dime to blaming Patrick.

There was nothing left to squeeze out of her in 43 hours. She testified she was treated well, and her lawyers (always present at suspect questioning) never ever filed a complaint against the police.

It is for making claims of the 43 hour variety that Curt and Edda are being prosecuted for calunnia.

Judy, thank you so much for shining a light on this case- The Troy Davis case is such a horrifying & sad miscarriage of justice happening right in our “grand ole USA” that I am forever thinking about when faced with the rubbish spewed by the FOA…

Troy Davis’ nightmare is a real one, a nightmare he has been living for over 20 years, in which he was convicted and sent to Death Row in the southern state of Georgia on the “eyewitness” testimony of several people, 90% of whom have since stated before court after court that they either lied, were coerced or promised favors to finger this innocent man…

ALL FALLEN ON DEAF EARS!  Where’s the OUTRAGE at this actual real injustice???  Oh, yes, he’s a black man..WITHOUT a MILLION DOLLAR MEDIA BLITZ/TAKEOVER…that makes it clear!  So so heartbreaking

Great artists on PMF. Thanks all! I’ve been printing out Piktor’s sunflowers, lion, tiger, leopards, H9’s roses, flowers for Nicki, photos by Bard of brown rabbit, rabbits with radio, Michael’s kestrel, poppy (In Flanders Fields?),  green-eyed Free Mignini! cat. I love them, and so many not mentioned, all cute. Like crazy one of Steve Moore and Chris Mellas in puffy sailor suits.

Art soothes this savage beast, like music.

Hi Barry, I’m not Peter but I was interested in that case as well. All I can say is in that case there are alot of wierd people , there are alot of hillbillys and alot of wierd hillbillys. But Damion sure looks guilty and indeed enjoyed his 15 minutes and Jesse is one low IQ specimen. Anyway, greetings.

I bring up the WM3 because an earlier poster brought up a miscarriage of justice so I thought I would get Peter’s take on what sounds like another.

Friar Fudd…I hope Damien Ecchols’ appearance isnt the reason you say he “looks” guilty?  No offence intended, I just have to ask as his “unique” appearance, ie. preference for black clothing, pale face, love of heavy metal music etc, unfortunately & clearly had a large bearing on his town’s quick rush to judgement and subsequent description of the crime as being “satanic” in nature…when actually if you delve into the case’s near total lack of evidence connecting Mr. Ecchols to the terrible crime it shows it to have been nothing of the sort..

There is more pointing to the stepfather of one of the boys than there ever was connecting Damien Ecchols…yet Damien is on death row…Amanda Knox, you should be ashamed for wasting coverage on your so called “plight” when actual INNOCENT people are truly deserving yet never have the help you’ve been given.  Sick

Strange doings on PMF. Michelle Moore, the loud person who is married to Steve Moore, is making a big deal on a Wikipedia chat forum out of Steve Moore’s media appearances, as if they actually added up to something to be recorded.

I dont think they do. I mentioned on my own mundane TV and print appearances when in the UN - routine for all senior staff, and part of what we were paid for and never before a subject of surprise - to show these things are simply no big deal.

Then a personal-attack troll appeared on PMF claiming after a lot of searching he (or she!) could find no such things on the web.

It seems he or she was seriously wasting their time. TV appearances dont actually appear on the web because they are, well, on TV. And any print coverage that may be out there would be in the languages of the many countries I was in.

And the hard fact remains: Steve Moore’s appearances on TV were fatuous and misleading and no big deal - and he STILL has not produced a biography, or a description of the evidence he claims he reviewed.

The fact that TJMK contributors have chosen to maintain a low-profile is admirable and humble, in my opinion.  The only thing that matters is facts, and facts can stand on their own without artificial propping-up (such as attribution to a “notable” media figure).

On the other hand, what I’ve seen emerge from the Innocentisti camp is the exact opposite: lies, distortions, and fantasies served up with a side of “expert” rhetoric.  The fact that no respected experts could be bought speaks volumes.

Hi Vivianna. Thank you. We dont aim to gain. It certainly was an odd experience being lectured that I dont put out enough about myself or put it out wrong by an anonymous troll.

There’s money in it from Meredith’s cruel death or so they hope. Steve Moore wants more TV gigs but wont put out his touted resume or his list of evidence actually seen, and “Bruce Fisher” the frenetic and not very bright leader of their failing effort is too demure to even tell us his real name.

The obvious reason why they are so interested in identities and bios is because they know people can be attacked and smeared, while facts cannot.  They can present outrageous lies to the uninformed, but they cannot change the facts themselves.  These facts, like the Massei report and the findings of Italian investigators and scientists, have been made public and are accessible to anyone who cares to look (including people who may have found out about the case from Moore or Ciolino’s circus shows and decided to find more information).  From this point of view, translating the Massei report was a large step towards keeping the English-speaking world informed, and TJMK’s work is greatly appreciated.  These facts are untouchable in themselves, which is why they probably hoped that smearing Mignini, Stefanoni, etc. would cast doubts over their work and the facts that ensued from this work.

What concerns me is that one of the side-effects of such smearing is intimidation.  I’m sure Mignini himself doesn’t care (and he shouldn’t), but others are probably afraid of being slimed or of having their families harassed. For the Innocentisti camp, it’s a win/win situation - either slime those who come forward, or scare away the rest.

As far as profiting from poor Meredith’s death, it’s disgusting and despicable. Not only was her life taken away, but her family needs to suffer through this pointless media circus.  I don’t think they comprehend that no matter what random people think about AK’s guilt or innocence, this case isn’t being judged in the media or on the internet.  They can’t change the decisions of the Italian court, and they can’t hurt Italy’s tourism industry more than the depression already has.

Sadly, I don’t think there can be “true justice” for Meredith.  The only true justice would be giving her her life back, but that’s not something anyone can do.

Posted by Vivianna on 04/23/11 at 01:03 AM | #

@Vivianna

The best form of true justice for Meredith is for Amanda Knox and Raphael to have their sentences increased to life in prison. Which is 30 years if I’m not mistaken. All three of them should never see the light of day outside a cell.
