Facts Of Melania Rea’s Stabbing Death In Italy Last April Are Also Proving Hard To Get Straight #3

Posted by Peter Quennell

Next detailed post on this “parallel universe” case not far from Perugia late today. There are two breaking-news developments to report.

1) Today 28 November the Supreme Court of Cassation in Rome should respond to a petition from defense lawyers Biscotti and Gentile (for yes, it is again they, the Rudy Guede defense team) to allow Melania’s husband Salvatore Parolisi out of Teramo prison on bail on the claimed grounds of a lack of hard evidence. If he gets out on bail he may fight for custody of his daughter, who is now with Melania’s parents near Naples..

If you read Italian, the Ascoli prosecutor who saw Parolisi confined to prison in July, Dr Umberti Monti (image below), pending more investigations and possible charges, offered the Ascoli magistrate this 68-page reasoning.

2) And the second magistrate on the case, Dr Marina Tommolini, in Teramo, the large town south of Ascoli and south-east where Melania’s body was found, had her Audi A6 doused in gasoline and set on fire. She was not in it. It’s not clear if the destruction of her car was case related, but strong suspicions are out there.

There is a huge volume of “known facts” on the case but also many unknowns and puzzles. All sides seem to have learned lessons from Perugia. The national and local police and prosecutors are playing a masterful game of seeping out info on this or that point to stir up leads. More surprises to come.

[Below: the lead Ascoli prosecutor on the case, Dr Umberti Monti, who works with counterparts in Teramo]

Okay, the decision of the the Supreme Court on whether the case against Parolisi is strong enough to keep him locked up is yes. So he remains behind bars. Biscotti and Gentile do seem to be over-reaching, but that seems one lesson from the appeal at Perugia.

So two-year-old Victoria, who may have witnessed Melania’s death, will continue to live with her grandparents and Melania’s brother east of Naples. All of them have been frequently on TV as interviewees and guests on the talk shows. They didnt want the facts of Salvatore’s mistress to get out, but when the facts did in July they roasted Salvatore and Ludovica for the betrayal.

Videos and shots of the funeral in Summa Vesuvio mid-May after the coroner released Melania’s body are especially moving in one respect. The entire top echelon of Salvatore’s army barracks at Ascoli turned up to pay their final respects.

Affairs are common.  Almost routine and are mostly open-secrets.  Some people live with it while some walk out of it. Some even take pride and boast about in the number of affairs they have or had. Socio-biologists tell that it is in men’s nature to have as many affairs as possible to that he can spread his genes far and wide.

We love and care women because they take care of our genes.  From the biologists’ perspective, it is important for the woman to stick to a man as pregnancy and child care makes her independence severely curtailed.  While the man goes on broadcasting his seeds far and wide…

There are many things I do not understand about violence.  Many here are lawyers and they see (and know deep within) the truth and effects of violence.  One thing is certain: these violent people are not normal as something is seriously wrong deep inside their brains because they cannot see or feel or think like most of us.

I feel so much for the small child whose life has now taken a violent turn…

I got my “follain” today but I did not like the cover photo.  He could have put one of the smiling faces of Meredith… I know there are many things that goes in the cover photo…

Why the father is now suddenly interested in the child care?  Perhaps just a show..

I’ve enjoyed posts by JenE, starsdad, brmull, and other newcomers, who bring fresh insights to TJMK.

This pitiful Melania Rea is a real tragedy. The Satanism angle is terrifying. I tried to research “Church of Satan” and “satanism” online, but the sites were so revolting and disturbing I couldn’t deal with it. I became frightened and had to log out. I have too much respect for unseen powers of evil and of good.

If Mrs. Rea stumbled onto a satanic cabal of this sort, she must have been terrified and desperately wanting to unload her fears and get advice. She would have wanted to take her daughter out of that atmosphere immediately. We pray, “Deliver us from evil,” not deliver us into evil.

@chami & Hopeful, you are right, these violent people, especially ones who put on an innocent mask and fool people in the aftermath, are not normal.  Unfortunately for them, the science of the psychopath is becoming solid.  Their brains ARE different.  BBC has put out a wonderful new documentary on this called “Are You Good or Evil?”, and there is the “Ponerology” book out there too.

This is all emerging but disturbing, yet I think it’s common knowledge at this point that for whatever reason a certain percentage of humans have zero empathy. Is it any surprise they are almost always highly materialistic, and when non violent in a direct way they are violent all the same in indirect ways (towards nature and humanity):

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/sep/01/psychopath-workplace-jobs-study

The hardest thing for gentle souls is to have to face this.  Usually we don’t think about this stuff until it hits us personally.  I am always aprehensive about posting anything anywhere about the “satanic” angle because it really is so much worse than the average person will ever realize, yet I don’t want people to react with excessive fear because they are NOT the majority.

In some ways ignorance of this stuff really IS bliss, until you encounter this type of person - and if you’re unlucky end up like Meredith or Melania.  ))-;

To be honest. better safe than sorry in the Melania case.  I’m glad that little girl is with the grandparents.

Oh and the tidbit about the car of the 2nd magistrate being fire bombed is just chilling.  If that is related to this case….well, all I can say is my hopes and prayers are with the people who are going after the murderers and the TRUTH.  It’s also my hope that if Melania’s murder involves the satanic angle, the network will be outed and compromised, even crippled by this investigation.

RIP Melania.

@ JenE, I hope you read my “An Overview Of Modern Thinking on The Criminal Mind” here at http://www.truejustice.org/ee/index.php?/tjmk/C444/

And the other below that “What Might Have Been”.  Yes, I’m familiar with Ponerology.

@ Chami

In my experience the root cause for the creation of the sociopath is anger. Anger at an event or events during childhood real or imagined. Anger through molestation during childhood or, and most important, anger at believing and being told by their parents that they are really invisible and don’t count for anything, or they are no good and their birth was a mistake. The phrase “He came up from nothing.” is very common.

That perhaps has produced such people as Richard Murdock. People who want to not only rule and own the world and control other peoples lives. So what drives these people? In fact what drives most of us to succeed. In most cases success is an ideal for a better life style but in others? Amanda Knox is a prime example. Her entire profile from casual sex to strumming one chord over and over to slovenly unclean habits to soccer plus trying to make up for the perceived abandonment by her father is case typical of the sociopath which is really a cry to be recognised.

Knox exhibits all these traits. She really believes that she is innocent which is why she is so good at the emotion, the hysterics and the crying on cue. Her emotion by the way has always been “Poor Little Me” She has never ever granted any sorrow for killing Meredith Kercher but then neither has her family. It’s all a case of denial covering up a case of anger at the cards she has been dealt in her life.

Melania Rea’s murder is in the same ball park. Look to jealousy probably in another woman who perceived MR as a threat. Sounds like some woman from the barracks. Anyway that’s my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the other postings. Justice will prevail, perhaps not now but eventually. Knox by the does not look too happy which is a good thing.

Hi Grahame. Yeah childhood trauma is increasingly viewed as a source of those mental defects.

We know that Curt Knox was not simply an absentee father until Chris Mellas came along - the uber-hothead Curt was aggressively refusing to pay Amanda’s child support for years (the documentation on that is public and well-know) and Edda repeatedly had to take him to court. Curt barely set eyes on Amanda from year to year, while Edda struggled with the bills as a low-paid single parent.

Where Edda lives in West Seattle is maybe only a couple of miles from where Curt lives, but their houses and gardens and neighborhoods are like night and day. Curt’s are on the low end of upper-class, whereas Edda’s are distinctly lower-end with vacant lots and drug-dealing nearby. Knox had to have felt inferior.

If one studies Amanda’s known statements in Seattle and Berlin and at trial and appeal in Perugia, it seems to some that she is not hard-wired to feel compassion for others or real regret. She may be doing what others with similar wrong wiring do, which is to get along (most of them never commit crimes) by mimicking the more-normal others.

Curt may have done a great deal of damage way back, and of course he is the one that set the slanderous and xenophobic PR campaign on its way which is almost certainly now damaging Amanda some more. (Chris also is said to have been something of a taunting bully, not least by Amanda herself who said as much to friends and to herself in her diary.)

All the books pussyfoot in this area but had this been a US-only case it would surely have all come out. Much of it would have actually in trial. We hear now that the realization is seeping out in Seattle that life on a powder keg may not be very much fun.

Hi Peter
On Google if you go to the site ‘Profile of a sociopath’ at the bottom there is a piece by Caroline Konrad in which she states at number 4
that a sociopath is “Remorselessly vindictive when thwarted or exposed.” This I imagine is the basis for Knox killing Meredith Kercher. Personally I could care less what the Italian court found. She is guilty without a shadow of a doubt and the blogs (Huff Post) are starting to show this shift in opinion.

bjorn,

Not that this matters, but Curt isn’t a VP anymore. And he was a division VP, not a national VP, which is a big difference.

According to salary data on the web a divsional VP at Macy’s makes about $145K. Being a finance guy, Knox could have made considerably more than that but certainly not more than $300K.

Reportedly it was the Mellas’ who actually put up $1 million. But ultimately I figure the media paid for most of it, and FOAers got shaked down for a couple hundred thousand.

Posted by brmull on 11/30/11 at 01:10 AM | #

@grahame - I’ve read that the sociopath (and his/her groupies) have nothing but contempt for their victims.

Posted by giustizia on 11/30/11 at 01:56 AM | #

Hi brmull. Interesting figures. You sure ferret these things out. Clearly Curt could have paid the child support if he wanted to so he was punishing Edda and thus Amanda (and Deanna) in the worst possible way.

Commenters on PMF often wondered how in Perugia they got along together. Edda always seemed to me the one that could have gone for a softer line. The dawning realization that Amanda did it really hit her with a wallop.

And Chris in Perugia said that some of the FOA carpetbaggers should be tossed over the side (et tu Steve Moore?!) and cooler-headed experts brought on board. Curt within hours was quoted as angrily saying it would remain full steam ahead.

Posted by Peter Quennell on 11/30/11 at 03:39 AM | #

Curt is obviously at the root of this particular evil. I wonder what it was that finally drove him and Edda apart? You have to be careful what you wish for after all. It has always struck me as some sort of dichotomy as to where Knox developed her need for promiscuity. No! I’m not interested in the salacious part of the equation but rather its root cause.

We all tend to judge people by our own experiences, therefore as far as mine is concerned, events in my childhood with various babysitters and the secrets that children tell each other in their innocence moldes my own interpretation. IE Knox exhibits the classic symptoms of the true sociopath who because her real world is a bitter memory, then as according to Sollecito, her existence is a dream world of her own making where the only thing she is interested in is pleasure, strikes a reponsive chord.

It is obvious to me Curt Knox had more than a guilty passing hand in this particular development and mental defect of his daughter. It is generally excepted that Curt is a bit of a ladies man, one bit in particular. I am not excusing Knox by the way but rather searching for the truth. Also I wonder what drew Edda towards Chris who is obviously tarred with the same brush and why it is that woman find such men attractive. After all she divorced Curt only to marry

Chris therefore continuing the dysfunctional family life that produced a mixture of anger and sociopathic manipulation in Knox??? No wonder Knox felt threatened by Meredith who saw through her little game from day one.

Posted by Grahame Rhodes on 11/30/11 at 05:37 PM | #

Hi Grahame. Very interesting, all of the above. Thanks for those important childhood insights.

Steve Moore, Bruce Fischer, David Anderson, Nina Burleigh, and the other impassioned true believers of the FOA have always had their guns pointed 180 degrees the wrong way.

It wasn’t Mignini who brutalized Amanda Knox. It was her own father.

Actually I have been told Meredith may have sensed all of the above. Knox exasperated her and she showed it, but she continued to hope that Knox would come out right.

Instead Knox had put off absolutely everybody a few weeks after she arrived in Perugia and Sollecito was by then her only friend. She had made herself extremely isolated.

Sollecito may have felt that the first real sex and first real connection with a girl he had had in a lifetime was hanging by a thread. And so the roller coaster continued with him on board.

The collateral damage flowing from the deep anger of Curt Knox is really enormous. This doesnt let Amanda off the hook, but for true justice, someone else should also be there.

Posted by Peter Quennell on 11/30/11 at 08:31 PM | #

Very True Peter
My take on it is that Knox and Sollecito are mirror images of each other. Singularly they are pretty benign but together they form a toxic couple bouncing an avid dislike of anybody who does not resemble an existence which is fueled by drugs sex and alcohol. Enter Guede the ultimate fall guy. I can just hear Knox and Sollecito laughing behind their hands at how stupid they perceived other occupants of the cottage to be, not to mention their own immediate families. Yes! payback time for Curt Chris and Edda.

Peter,

Speaking of Nina Burleigh, has anyone else noticed similarities between “Fatal Gift of Beauty” and “Murder in Italy”? For instance, here’s Burleigh (p. 202):

“[Finzi] handed it off to a more senior officer, Stefano Gubbiotti, who had spent the earlier part of the day at the murder house. No forensics expert, Gubbiotti first stored the knife in a calendar box, the repacked it and stuck it in a closet, and finally sent it to the crime lab in Rome.”

And Dempsey:

“Finzi [who Dempsey misidentifies as an assistant] also admitted that he’d handed the knife off to another officer, Steffano Gubbiotti. Not only had the latter been to the cottage that day, where Meredith’s DNA was everywhere, but he then broke the chain of evidence by storing the knife in a Renato Balestra calendar box, repacking it, leaving it in a closet, and then not being clear about how it got to the Rome lab.”

I’m struck by the fact that Burleigh repeated Dempsey’s wrong claim that Gubbiotti is senior Finzi. I’m struck that they both used the phrase “handed off”. I’m struck that she next mentions that Gubbiotti had been to the cottage. I’m struck by similar use of the words “storing” and “repacking”.

Ha ha ha! Brmull, now you’ve done it. Candace Dempsey will be IMPOSSIBLE! (Okay more impossible.) That will now be on the resume for sure.

Nina’s the only one I’ve met of that group but I suspect they all share the same guileless humorless naivetee, easily led, and blind to truths in front of their noses. Ergon is right about cult psychology.

They have helped the cynical Curt Knox to force Amanda into an impossible leading part she cant possibly sustain. It’s only a matter of time before the castle of cards crashes down. and judging by the recent quietness they are starting to sense it.

If you can look for the clues in this case with a dispassionate eye.

If you can disseminate the cold facts from the hysteria and sit back and think while also relying upon your own experiences in childhood with the secret boasting of 9 year old babysitters who claim that “My father loves me and my mother does not know.”

If you can take that and remember what happened to the aforementioned babysitter and her eventual occupation, in particular being introduced years later to her father and her baby.

Then the unmistakeably conclusion becomes obvious. Knox was sexually molested by her father at a young age. Before you throw up your hands in horror at such a suggestion then sit back and think about Knox’s life growing up poor while your biological father lives it up and refuses to pay child support. Think about Edda divorcing Curt only to marry Chris who is of the same mold. Think about all the twists and turns of Knox’s entire life from her aggression in physical competition to her promiscuity. This was never any shrinking violet virgin by any stretch of the imagination.

The desire to control and the repressed anger is endemic to the true sociopath. Knox’s psychology was never very stable to begin with. Having examined this case from the ‘get-go’ the only possible conclusion is molestation at a young age if not by her father then some other close family member. Curt Knox’s refusal to provide child support is predicated upon his desire to see his former family just disappear which has it’s basis in guilt of course.

lastly examine the psychology of Amanda Knox’s sister Deanna. Such a vast difference is curious to say the least. Ask yourself why this is. Examine Curt Knox’s daughters Ashley and Delaney who are 16 and 13. I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

People will go to extreme and frightening lengths to protect what they value (their family, their property, their world-view, ego, fantasy, their “good name”??)  “Knox” is the label that’s been tarnished;Curt is damned if he’s going to take that sitting down.
Still, this was his first baby girl, and I can believe he genuinely felt for her, shivering and boiling, alternately, in Capanne. How could any father, under the hot lights of the camera crews, not at least appear sympathetic to his child? Even if, some 20 years ago, his attention was more readily consumed with the ravishing Cassandra (have you seen her? She’s really a very ordinary woman. Perhaps he was most taken with the fact that she wasn’t harping, shrilly, all the while, like his other wife.)
As for the daughters. Deanna’s loyalty is not hard to understand. One of the younger ones is quite an athlete in the swimming pool. Big sister’s notoriety can’t have been easy on them. Has Curt done better as a dad with the second batch? I don’t think their makeup and attire are more precocious than that of most girls their age.

As to abuse or molestation, only they know. Often in a family there is a sacrificial lamb. The other siblings will disbelieve her stories, because nothing of the sort happened to them. The chosen one is told she is “special” and no one else has to know about their “secret”. It is a mind- warper, for certain, and will come out in some way, someday, no matter how it’s been shoved under the rug and stuffed into the closet.

I read the detailed analysis by Ergon.  Thanks for giving us the link.  It is an eye-opener.

I do not know the exact details but I doubt whether anyone will ever know.  But the conclusion is the same: AK needs therapy.  I do not know whether it will help or not, but she is sick to the core, for sure.

It is all our sins that have now come out.  What we can do?  What we could have done?  I can only pray and hope.  That tomorrow will be better and brighter. Hope, the last gift from the Pandora’s box.

What is the future of the little girl of Melania? I am not worried about her husband or his affairs or his mistress.  I hope one day Victoria will smile as sweetly as Meredith.  Then I shall believe in God and his justice.
